Robert A. Douglass, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, CPHD, is a Senior Associate at Voith & Mactavish Architects. He holds degrees from the University of Miami, where he was awarded the 2010 Henry Adams Medal for academic excellence in architecture, and from Haverford College. His experiences studying in Rome, Istanbul, and Tokyo continue to influence his work today. Rob is VMA’s first Certified Passive House Designer, in line with his personal commitment to sustainability and his role providing executive leadership over the firm’s sustainable pursuits. He is driven to design campus environments that positively shape student outcomes, especially for young children, and brings a deep knowledge of different pedagogical models and their expression through architecture. Rob has also developed a deep appreciation for historic buildings, and he has worked with St. George’s School, Yale University, and others to make their older buildings both more sustainable and more responsive to contemporary student needs.
