T. David Bell, FAIA, LEED AP is the founding principal of BELL Architects, PC, an award-winning firm in Washington, DC specializing in historic preservation and sustainable design. His track record of success over the last 35 years includes work with the US General Services Administration, US Department of the Interior, US Department of Defense, University of the District of Columbia, and District of Columbia Public Schools, among others. His skills and interests are focused on integrating technology and traditional construction to create great places while conserving energy, environmental, financial, and historic resources. A graduate of Virginia Tech, Mr. Bell is committed to the mid-Atlantic region and has served as president of the DC Preservation League, treasurer of Cultural Tourism DC, founding chair of the High-Performance Building Committee and at-large board member of AIA|DC and docent of the Smithsonian HMSG.
He has presented numerous talks and tours certified for learning units under AIA HSW and LEED with many groups, including DC Preservation League Stewardship for Climate Action (2021), Design DC (2009, 2010, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2021), Traditional Building Conference (2009, 2011, 2020), National Alliance of Preservation Commissions (2014), National Building Museum (2009), East Coast Green (2011), Das Haus Pavilion Expert Tour (2012), University of Maryland (2013, 2014, 2015), the National Victorian Society (2012), CitiesAlive (2016), Grey-to-Green (2018), Association for Preservation Technology APT-DC (2009), and ArchEX East (2010, 2014, 2016).
